PROS:

Bettas are very beautiful and many people want to own them, but they have no clue how to enter into the wonderful world of bettas, as Adam Short the author calls it. I’ve only known these little beauties as Siamese Fighting Fish, but after reading this eBook, I discovered how little I know of them. Adam is a betta owner for over 25 years and has interacted with thousands of betta owners and their pets, helping them through this book. And that’s easy to believe.

His book covers soup to nuts:

-How to make your betta feel at home
-What you do when you bring your new pet home
-Feeding your betta
-Cleaning his tank
-Fish that get along with betta fish
-Diseases and how to cure them

It includes so much more. He gives you a true overview as well as specifics on anything to do with keeping your betta fish and ensuring he lives a long and healthy life.

Adam Short obviously loves his pet and loves the world of bettas. His caring for them comes through in the words he writes. A must read for anyone who owns a betta or is thinking of owning one.

CONS:

It got a bit confusing when he discussed how big the tank should be. He says that a 10-gallon is the best size for a Betta, but how many can you put in that size? I would have preferred if he had broken it down into how many fish can be in a 20-gallon and larger. We would like to eventually have an entire aquarium full of tropical fish so in that regard, the book wasn’t much help.

Bottom line:
Honestly, I’ve owned so many pets and for the most part, I knew what was needed. When it comes to bettas, not so much. But now that I have this book, I feel fully prepared to begin my adventure with the betta fish. Definitely one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend it.
